Zongzi
Zongzi are sweet or savory dumplings wrapped in bamboo leaves and ready to be steamed.

Ingredients
- 4 bamboo leaves
- 150 g glutinous rice
- 200 g pork
- 100 g carrots
- 50 g onions
- 100 g lard
- 2 pieces of perilla leaf
- 1 tsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp oyster sauce
- 1 tsp vegetable oil
Method
- Trim and cube the pork.
- Cook the glutinous rice according to package instructions.
- Dice the onions and carrots.
- In a bowl, mix the soy sauce, soy, and vegetable oil.
- Place a spoonful of rice, a cube of pork, a spoonful of vegetables, and a piece of perilla leaf in each bamboo leaf.
- Cover with a layer of rice and fold the edges of the leaf to form a cone.
- Steam the Zongzi for about 1 hour or until fully cooked.
- Serve hot.
The story
Zongzi originated in China and are traditionally prepared during the Dragon Boat Festival to honor ancestors.
