Ingredients

  • 500g of beef, cut into pieces
  • 2 onions, chopped
  • 3 garlic cloves, crushed
  • 4 ripe tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon of cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon of red pepper flakes
  • 1 teaspoon of sugar
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 1 cup of beef broth
  • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon powder
  • Salt to taste

Method

  1. In a non-stick pan, sauté the onions and garlic in olive oil for a few minutes.
  2. Add the beef and cook for 5-7 minutes until the beef is well cooked.
  3. Add the tomatoes, cayenne pepper, red pepper flakes, sugar, and cinnamon, stir well.
  4. Cover the pan with a lid and cook over medium heat for 20-25 minutes until the beef is tender.
  5. Add the beef broth and stir well. Cook for another 10-15 minutes until the sauce is thick and the beef is fully cooked.
  6. Season with salt if needed. Serve hot with Ethiopian bread.
