Ingredients

  • 200 g of basmati rice
  • 100 g of cane sugar
  • 100 ml of palm oil
  • 1 lemon
  • 100 ml of water
  • 100 g of almonds
  • 100 g of sesame seeds
  • 1 tablespoon of cinnamon powder
  • 1 tablespoon of cardamom powder
  • 1 tablespoon of ginger powder
  • Salt to taste

Method

  1. In a pan, heat the palm oil until it's hot.
  2. Add the rice and stir for 2-3 minutes, stirring frequently.
  3. Add the cane sugar, lemon zest, and water, stir well.
  4. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, cover and cook for 15-20 minutes or until the rice is cooked.
  5. In another pan, toast the almonds and sesame seeds.
  6. In a bowl, place the cooked rice and add the toasted almonds, sesame seeds, and spices.
  7. Mix well and add salt to taste.
  8. Serve hot.
