Ingredients

  • 300g of puff pastry dough
  • 6-7 apples
  • 200g of sugar
  • 100g of butter
  • 100g of chopped almonds
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla
  • 1/2 teaspoon of nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon of caster sugar

Method

  1. Prepare the puff pastry dough and let it cool for 30 minutes.
  2. Peel and thinly slice the apples, mix with sugar, cinnamon, vanilla, and nutmeg.
  3. Roll out the puff pastry on a work surface and brush with butter.
  4. Place the apples in the center of the pastry, add the chopped almonds and a bit of caster sugar.
  5. Quickly wrap the pastry around the apples, leaving a little space for the closure.
  6. Make a closure with the remaining pastry and sew the strudel shut.
  7. Make shallow cuts on the surface of the strudel.
  8. Sew the remaining pastry to close the strudel.
  9. Bake the strudel in the oven at 180°C for 40-50 minutes, until golden.
  10. Let it cool and serve with a dusting of caster sugar.
