Ingredients

  • 4 chickens, cut into pieces
  • 1 liter of chicken broth
  • 2 onions, chopped
  • 2 red bell peppers, sliced
  • 2 scallions, sliced
  • 1 chili, chopped
  • 1 red onion, chopped
  • 200 g of nappa cabbage, cut into pieces
  • 100 g of red onion, cubed
  • 2 tablespoons of palm oil
  • 2 tablespoons of soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon of lemon juice
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Method

  1. In a large pot, heat the palm oil and sauté the onions until they turn golden.
  2. Add the chicken broth, bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix the red onions, chili, lemon juice, soy sauce, and a bit of salt.
  4. Add the red peppers, scallions, and nappa cabbage to the soup and cook for another 10 minutes.
  5. Finally, add the chicken pieces, cover, and cook for 20-25 minutes or until the chicken is fully cooked.
  6. Serve the tinolang manok hot in bowls.
