Ingredients
- 200g of dark chocolate
- 100g of butter
- 400g of sugar
- 4 eggs
- 100g of flour
- 100g of cocoa powder
- 100g of crushed almonds
- 1 packet of baking powder
Method
- Melt the chocolate and butter in a bain-marie.
- In another pan, mix the sugar and eggs until you get a smooth cream.
- Mix in the flour, cocoa powder, and baking powder until you get a smooth dough.
- Fold in the chocolate and butter mixture, then add the crushed almonds.
- Pour half of the dough into a buttered baking dish and cover with the remaining dough.
- Bake in the oven at 180°C for 25-30 minutes, until the surface is golden.
- Let it cool before cutting into pieces and serving.
The story
Tim Tams originated in Sydney in the 1960s as a local take on the American tradition of two-layer cakes, specifically chocolate ones.
