Ingredients

  • 200g of dark chocolate
  • 100g of butter
  • 400g of sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 100g of flour
  • 100g of cocoa powder
  • 100g of crushed almonds
  • 1 packet of baking powder

Method

  1. Melt the chocolate and butter in a bain-marie.
  2. In another pan, mix the sugar and eggs until you get a smooth cream.
  3. Mix in the flour, cocoa powder, and baking powder until you get a smooth dough.
  4. Fold in the chocolate and butter mixture, then add the crushed almonds.
  5. Pour half of the dough into a buttered baking dish and cover with the remaining dough.
  6. Bake in the oven at 180°C for 25-30 minutes, until the surface is golden.
  7. Let it cool before cutting into pieces and serving.

The story

Tim Tams originated in Sydney in the 1960s as a local take on the American tradition of two-layer cakes, specifically chocolate ones.
