Shahi Tukda
A rich and delicious dish of caramelized bread pieces topped with a yogurt and spice sauce.

Ingredients
- 4 slices of soaked bread (like country bread or toasted bread)
- 1 cup of Greek yogurt
- 1 tablespoon of sugar
- 1/2 cup of butter
- 1/2 cup of chopped onion
- 1/2 cup of toasted fennel seeds
- 1/2 tablespoon of ground cumin
- 1/2 tablespoon of ground ginger
- 1/2 tablespoon of ground pepper
- 1/2 tablespoon of ground cardamom
- 1/2 cup of chopped nuts
- 1/2 cup of heavy cream
- 1/2 cup of wine vinegar
Method
- Fry the bread pieces in a pan with butter until they become golden and crispy.
- In a saucepan, mix the yogurt, sugar, wine vinegar, and butter until it melts.
- Add the chopped onion and spices, cook on medium heat for 5 minutes.
- Add the golden bread pieces and cover with the sauce, cook on low heat for 10 minutes.
- Finally, add the toasted fennel seeds and chopped nuts, mix well and serve hot.

Shahi Tukda is a traditional Delhi dish that drew inspiration from Persian cuisine, becoming popular in the 19th century.
