Sate
Sate is a traditional Indonesian dish consisting of marinated skewered chicken or meat grilled over an open flame.

Ingredients
- 400 g of pork skewers
- 1 onion
- 200 ml of coconut oil
- 2 tablespoons of beef vinegar
- 2 tablespoons of ground pepper
- 1 tablespoon of salt
- 1 tablespoon of ground cloves
- 1 tablespoon of ginger
- 1 tablespoon of chili
- 1 tablespoon of lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon of lime juice
Method
- Cut the onion into small cubes and sauté the onion in a pan with coconut oil.
- While the onion is sautéing, mix the vinegar, pepper, salt, chili, cloves, ginger, lemon, and lime juice in a bowl.
- Add the pork skewers to the sauce and mix until the skewers are fully coated.
- Let it marinate for at least 2 hours or overnight.
- Thread the pork skewers onto skewers and grill over a slow fire.
- Serve the skewers hot with a drizzle of sate sauce.
The story
Sate has origins dating back to the 15th century, when merchants from Banten, a city on the Sunda Strait, began selling this dish.
