Ingredients

  • 200g fried potato chips
  • 300g cheddar cheese
  • 200g provolone cheese
  • 100g butter
  • 200g tomato sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 onion
  • 100g smoked bacon
  • 100g potatoes
  • oil for frying
  • 100g broccoli

Method

  1. Fry the potatoes in plenty of olive oil and let them cool.
  2. Chop the onion and broccoli into small pieces.
  3. In a pan, sauté the onion and smoked bacon in a bit of butter.
  4. Add the sliced potatoes and cook on medium heat for 10 minutes.
  5. In a baking dish, place the fried potatoes, onion and bacon mixture, broccoli, and tomato sauce.
  6. Sprinkle with salt and pepper, add the cheese, and bake at 180°C for 15 minutes.
  7. Serve hot.

The story

Poutine originated in Quebec in the 1950s as an improvised dish in a bar and quickly spread throughout Canada.
