This bauernbrot, typical of Steiermark, is a flavorful and hearty bread perfect for pairing with savory dishes.

Ingredients
- 500 g of wheat flour
- 300 ml of cold water
- 10 g of fresh yeast
- 10 g of salt
- 1 tablespoon of olive oil
- 50 g of sesame seeds
- 50 g of fennel seeds
- 50 g of wild fennel seeds
Method
- In a bowl, mix the flour, yeast, and salt.
- Add the cold water and olive oil, kneading until a homogeneous dough is formed.
- Cover the bowl with a clean cloth and let it rise for about 1 hour, until the dough has halved in size.
- Shape the dough into a loaf and sprinkle with sesame seeds, fennel seeds, and wild fennel seeds.
- Let it rise for an additional 30 minutes, then bake in a preheated oven at 220°C for about 45-50 minutes, until the bread is golden.
- Allow to cool before slicing.
