Ingredients

  • 250 g of sugar
  • 500 ml of milk
  • 10 eggs
  • 100 g of flour
  • 10 g of baking powder
  • 1 vanilla pod or a vanilla pod extract
  • 1 tablespoon of caster sugar
  • 1 tablespoon of oil

Method

  1. In a bowl, mix the sugar, flour, and baking powder.
  2. In another bowl, beat the eggs with the milk, vanilla, and oil.
  3. Combine the two mixtures and mix until you get a smooth cream.
  4. Pour the cream into muffin tins and bake in the oven at 180°C for about 20-25 minutes.
  5. Let it cool and decorate with caster sugar.
  6. Serve warm.

The story

Pastel de Nata originated in the 17th century when it was invented by the French and then adapted by the Portuguese, becoming a culinary symbol of their tradition.
