Pão de Mel is a traditional Brazilian dessert from Minas Gerais, a sweet treat made with toasted bread and sugar.

Ingredients

  • 1 kg of toasted wheat bread
  • 500 g of sugar
  • 1 liter of milk
  • 200 g of butter
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon of rum
  • 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon powder

Method

  1. Prepare the toasted bread and cut it into cubes of about 1 x 1 cm.
  2. In a pan, mix the milk, butter, eggs, vanilla extract, rum, and cinnamon.
  3. In another bowl, combine the toasted bread and sugar, mixing well.
  4. Pour the milk mixture over it and mix until you get a homogeneous consistency.
  5. Pour the preparation into a pudding mold and bake in the oven at 150°C for about 1 hour.
  6. Let it cool and serve cold or at room temperature.
