Panettone is a traditional Milanese sweet bread known for its softness and intense flavor.

Ingredients
- 500 g of hard wheat flour
- 200 g of sugar
- 100 g of butter
- 3 eggs
- 100 g of almonds
- 500 g of dried fruit compote
- 10 g of yeast
- 200 ml of milk
- 100 g of cocoa powder
- 1 sachet of almond flavoring
- 1 sachet of cinnamon flavoring
Method
- Mix the flour, yeast, sugar, and butter until you get a homogeneous flour mixture.
- In a bowl, combine the eggs, milk, almonds, and sugar, mixing well.
- Add the mixed flour and gently incorporate it.
- Add the dried fruit compote and cocoa powder, mixing well.
- Form a dough ball and place it in a panettone mold.
- Cover with a cloth and let it rise in a warm place for about 12 hours.
- Remove the panettone from the mold and bake in an oven at 180°C for about 1 hour.
- Let it cool and serve.
The story
Originating from ancient times, panettone became particularly popular in Milan during the 16th century, thanks to its rich recipe and its presence at Christmas celebrations.
