Mămăligă with Sarmale

A delightful mămăligă served with sarmale, a traditional Romanian dish.

Ingredients
- 200 g of mămăligă
- 400 g of sarmale
- 1 onion
- 2 garlic cloves
- 200 ml of meat broth
- 50 ml of olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 100 g of grated cheese
- 100 g of chopped parsley
- 2 eggs
- 100 g of lard in chunks
Method
- Prepare the mămăligă according to package instructions, then heat the meat broth.
- In a pan, sauté the garlic and onion in olive oil.
- Add the sarmale and cook for a few minutes, then add the meat broth.
- Pour the mămăligă into a serving dish and top with the sarmale.
- In a bowl, mix the eggs, cheese, parsley, and a little bit of broth.
- Baste the mămăligă with the egg mixture and bake for 15-20 minutes at 180°C.
- Bake the dish for 15-20 minutes at 180°C until the mămăligă is warm and the cheese is golden.
- Serve hot, accompanied by chunks of lard.
