Ingredients

  • 500g of beef sirloin, sliced
  • 2 onions, sliced
  • 2 tomatoes, cubed
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 zucchini, sliced
  • 2 scallions, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon tomato sauce
  • 1 red onion, minced
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Method

  1. In a pan, heat the olive oil and sauté the red onion and garlic for 5 minutes over medium heat.
  2. Add the onions, bell pepper, and zucchini and sauté for another 5 minutes.
  3. Add the beef sirloin and cook for 4-5 minutes until the meat is well done.
  4. In a bowl, mix the soy sauce, Worcestershire, and tomato sauce together.
  5. Add the sauce to the beef sirloin and mix well.
  6. Add the sautéed vegetables and mix for a minute.
  7. Serve the Lomo Saltado with french fries and sauce on the side.

The story

Lomo Saltado originated in the late 19th century when sailors and foreign workers brought their Eastern recipes and combined them with traditional Chilean ingredients.
