Ingredients

  • 1 kg of plums
  • 200 g of sugar
  • 1/2 liter of water
  • 100 g of dried fruit
  • 100 g of powdered sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 100 g of flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla powder
  • 1/4 liter of milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon of powdered sugar

Method

  1. Clean and slice the plums, place them in a pan with sugar and water, bring to a boil and simmer for 30 minutes, then let cool.
  2. While the plums are cooling, mix the eggs, flour, vanilla, milk, baking powder, and cinnamon in a bowl.
  3. Add the dried fruit to the plum compote and let cool.
  4. In a pan, fry the fruit fritter, cut it into pieces, and place it on a plate.
  5. Serve the Kaiserschmarrn warm with the Zwetschgenröster on top.
  6. Sprinkle powdered sugar on top for an extra touch of sweetness.

Kaiserschmarrn is a traditional Austrian dessert originating from the Salzburg region in the 19th century. The plum compote version is particularly cherished in the Salzburg area.
