Kacchi Yakhni

A traditional Balochistan dish, Kacchi Yakhni is a sweet and aromatic lamb broth with lamb shanks.

Ingredients
- 4 lamb shanks
- 500 g of lamb cut into pieces
- 1 liter of meat broth
- 1 onion
- 2 carrots
- 2 cucumbers
- 2 tablespoons of chili
- 1 teaspoon of chili powder
- 1 teaspoon of ginger
- 1 teaspoon of cardamom
- 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
- Salt and pepper to taste
Method
- Prepare the lamb shanks by cutting them into pieces and boiling them in meat broth for 1 hour.
- Clean and dice the onion, carrots, and cucumbers into cubes.
- In a large pot, sauté the onion in a bit of olive oil.
- Add the carrots and cucumbers and cook for 5 minutes.
- Add the sautéed onion, chili, chili powder, ginger, cardamom, and cinnamon to the pot.
- Stir well and let cook for 5 minutes.
- Add the cut lamb pieces and the lamb shank broth.
- Simmer for 1 hour on low heat.
- Arrange the lamb shanks in a serving dish and pour the broth and solid ingredients over them.
- Serve hot and season with salt and pepper to taste.
