Ingredients

  • 200g of cooked rice
  • 4 sheets of nori
  • 100g of tomato sauce
  • 50g of anchovies
  • 50g of onion
  • 50g of shrimp
  • 50g of carrots
  • 50g of shiitake mushrooms
  • 2 eggs
  • 3 tablespoons of soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoons of soybean paste
  • 1 teaspoon of ground pepper

Method

  1. Cook the tomato sauce in a pan and add the anchovies, soybean paste, and ground pepper. Mix well and let it cool.
  2. Chop the onion, shrimp, carrot, and shiitake mushrooms into small pieces.
  3. In a bowl, beat the eggs.
  4. Prepare the cooked rice and add the soy sauce.
  5. Wrap a sheet of nori on a long piece of aluminum foil.
  6. Add a spoonful of tomato sauce, some rice, some onion, shrimp, carrot, and shiitake mushrooms.
  7. Baste the eggs and add them on top.
  8. Roll the gimbap and repeat with the other sheets of nori.

The story

Gimbap originated in the 17th century in South Korea, where it was a popular dish among fishermen. It was introduced to Europe in the 1970s and became popular among young people.
