Ingredients

  • 400 g of fava beans
  • 1 onion
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 100 ml of olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon of cedar essence
  • 1 tablespoon of salt
  • Water for cooking the beans
  • Pulla (optional, for garnish)

Method

  1. Rinse the fava beans and cook them in boiling water with a bit of salt for about 30 minutes.
  2. Break the skin of the fava beans by pressing them with a spoon.
  3. Fill the broken fava beans with minced garlic and olive oil, then mash them with your fingers.
  4. In a pan, sauté the onion and garlic in a bit of olive oil.
  5. Add the fava beans, salt, and cedar essence, stir and cook on low heat for 15-20 minutes.
  6. Serve hot, garnished with pulla if desired.
