Falafel
A classic Middle Eastern dish, crispy and delicious, made with fried chickpeas and served with fresh vegetables and sauce.

Ingredients
- 250 g of chickpeas
- 1 onion
- 2 garlic cloves
- 100 g of pita bread
- 1 teaspoon of black pepper
- 1 teaspoon of sugar
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 1 teaspoon of ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon of ground coriander
- 1 teaspoon of nutmeg
- Oil for frying
- Pita bread or Arabic bread for serving
Method
- Rinse the chickpeas and boil them for 30-40 minutes until soft. Let them cool.
- Finely chop the onion and garlic.
- Crush the pita bread with cold water until you get a smooth paste.
- Mix the pita bread paste with the cooled chickpeas, garlic, onion, black pepper, sugar, salt, cumin, coriander, and nutmeg.
- Form the falafel into balls about 2-3 cm in diameter.
- Fry the falafel in plenty of hot oil until crispy (about 5-7 minutes).
- Serve the hot falafel with pita bread or Arabic bread, along with mixed salad and tahini sauce.
