Canasta Tacos are a traditional dish from Mexico City, crispy and delicious with various fillings.

Ingredients
- 4 canastas of bread
- 300 g of minced meat
- 1 onion
- 100 g of guacamole
- 100 g of tomato cream
- 100 g of cheddar cheese
- 50 g of scallions
- 1 tablespoon of tomato sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Oil for frying
Method
- Cut the ends of the canastas to create a hat shape.
- Fry the canastas in hot oil for a few minutes until golden brown.
- In a pan, cook the minced meat with the onion until well done.
- Dice the onion and scallions into small pieces.
- Add the diced onion and scallions to the meat and cook for a few minutes.
- In a bowl, mix the guacamole, tomato cream, tomato sauce, salt, and pepper.
- Fill the canastas with the meat and the mixed sauce.
- Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top and bake in the oven at 180°C for 5-7 minutes.
- Serve with a side of fresh lettuce and salsa.
The story
Canasta Tacos originated in Mexico City in the 1950s when street vendors began selling their metal can bread, transforming it into a delicious dish.
