Ingredients

  • 200 grams of Arabica coffee beans
  • 4 cups of water
  • cubes of sugar for sweetening
  • cup of milk (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon of cardamom (optional)

Method

  1. Grind the coffee beans into a fine powder.
  2. Bring 4 cups of water to a boil in a pot.
  3. Add the coffee powder to the boiling water and stir well.
  4. Boil the mixture until done and add sugar to taste.
  5. If desired, add a teaspoon of cinnamon and a teaspoon of cardamom for an extra flavor.
  6. Boil the coffee for one minute and then turn off the heat.
  7. Serve the coffee in warm cups and enjoy the buna with your guests.

Buna is an ancient Ethiopian tradition dating back to the 10th century, when coffee was first cultivated and consumed in the country.
