Ingredients

  • 200g of beef
  • 200g of pork
  • 100g of chicken
  • 100g of shrimp
  • 100g of clams
  • 100g of pork belly
  • 100g of shiitake mushrooms
  • 100g of scallops
  • 1 onion
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1 chili pepper
  • 300ml of chicken broth

Method

  1. Cut the beef, pork, and chicken into small cubes. Mince the garlic and ginger.
  2. In a wok, sauté the garlic and ginger in soybean oil. Add the beef, pork, and chicken, and cook over medium heat for 5 minutes.
  3. Add the shrimp, clams, and shiitake mushrooms. Cook for another 3 minutes.
  4. In a pot, pour in the chicken broth and chili pepper, bring to a boil.
  5. Transfer the contents of the wok to the pot with the broth, cover, and cook over medium heat for 20 minutes.
  6. Add the pork belly and cook for another 5 minutes.
  7. Serve hot, garnished with shrimp.

Buddha Jumps Over the Wall is a traditional dish from Fujian that has the legend of being created to honor the visit of a Buddhist monk. According to the legend, the dish was so delicious that a monk would leap over the wall to taste it.
