Bean Stew
A classic of Ukrainian cuisine, Gorohivnyak is a warm and nutritious soup that is enjoyed in winter.

Ingredients
- 300g of beans
- 2 carrots
- 2 onions
- 2 bacon strips
- 1 zucchini
- 1 red onion
- 200g of potatoes
- 1 liter of beef broth
- salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon of sea salt
- 1 tablespoon of wine vinegar
- 200g of cubed vegetables
Method
- In a large pot, heat the oil and sauté the onions and carrots until they soften.
- Add the bacon and fry until crispy.
- Add the beans, beef broth, cubed vegetables, salt, and wine vinegar. Bring to a boil and cook for 30 minutes.
- Add the potatoes and zucchini, cover, and cook for an additional 20 minutes.
- Stir occasionally and taste to adjust the seasoning.
- Serve hot with a sprinkle of sea salt on the side.

Gorohivnyak is a traditional soup that dates back to the agricultural origins of Ukraine, where beans have been a significant part of the diet for generations.
