Ingredients

  • 1 lb of beef or tofu
  • 250 g of rice leaves
  • 2 onions
  • 100 g of choice vegetables (scallions, baby onions, carrots)
  • 1 tablespoon of soy oil
  • 1 tablespoon of liquid soy sauce
  • 1 lemon
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Water for moistening the rice leaves

Method

  1. Slice the onion and vegetables into thin strips.
  2. In a pan, sauté the onion and vegetables in soy oil.
  3. Add the meat or tofu, seasoned with salt and pepper, and cook until the mixture is well done.
  4. Moisten the rice leaves in cold water.
  5. Prepare the soy and lemon sauce by mixing liquid soy sauce and lemon juice.
  6. Prepare the bánh cuốn by placing a rice leaf on a cloth, adding a bit of meat or tofu mixture, and covering with another rice leaf.
  7. Gently roll and tie with a cotton thread.
  8. Stack the rolls and cook in boiling water for 2-3 minutes.
  9. Serve hot with the soy and lemon sauce.
