Ingredients

  • 1 kg of beef
  • 1 onion
  • 2 bell peppers
  • 1 lemon
  • 10 lettuce leaves
  • 10 slices of pita bread
  • 100 g of Greek yogurt
  • 100 g of pickles
  • 1 tablespoon of balsamic vinegar
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Extra virgin olive oil

Method

  1. Slice the beef thinly and season with salt, pepper, lemon juice, and olive oil. Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Slice the onion and bell peppers thinly. Sauté in a pan with a bit of olive oil until soft.
  3. Grill the beef for 5-7 minutes over medium-high heat, turning often to ensure even cooking.
  4. Assemble the gyros by placing a slice of meat, a slice of onion and peppers, a dollop of yogurt and pickles on each piece of pita bread.
  5. Serve immediately, garnished with lettuce leaves.
  6. Drizzle with balsamic vinegar before serving.
