Aosta Pissaladière

A sweet, crispy crust topped with sweet apple, onion, and grated cheese, perfect for an aperitif or a light meal.

Ingredients
- 200g of whole wheat bread
- 4 onions
- 200g of grated cheese (preferably gruyère)
- 2 apples
- 2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil
- Salt to taste
- Pepper to taste
Method
- Take the bread and cut the onions into cubes. Sauté the onions in a pan with oil over medium heat until they become golden.
- Peel and slice the apples thinly. Add the apple slices to the pan with the onions.
- While the onions and apple are cooking, cut the bread into small pieces and set aside.
- Spread the bread pieces on a baking sheet or a piece of baking paper. Cover with the onion and apple mixture and the oil.
- Sprinkle the grated cheese over the bread crust. Bake in the oven at 200°C for 15-20 minutes until the cheese melts and the crust becomes golden.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
