Ingredients

  • 500g potatoes
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 2 tablespoons ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon red chili powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 50g gram flour (besan)
  • 3 tablespoons fresh cilantro, chopped

Method

  1. Peel and cube the potatoes. Boil them in salted water until soft.
  2. Drain the boiled potatoes well and mash them with a spoon or potato masher, adding salt, gram flour, and dry spices.
  3. Mix well to achieve an even consistency. Add chopped cilantro and mix again.
  4. Shape into small patties using buttered hands so they don't stick together.
  5. Fry the Aloo Tikki in hot oil until golden brown and crispy.
