Ingredients
- 250g of yam noodles
- 1 red onion
- 1 red bell pepper
- 1 green bell pepper
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1/2 tablespoon sugar
- 1/4 cup golden sesame seeds
- 1/2 cup black sesame seeds
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 red onion
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
Method
- Soak the yam noodles in cold water for 30 minutes, then dry them with a kitchen towel.
- Slice the red onion, red bell pepper, and green bell pepper into thin strips.
- In a bowl, mix the soy sauce, lemon juice, sugar, and black pepper.
- In a large bowl, place the yam noodles, vegetables, and sesame seeds.
- Pour the dressing over the salad and mix well.
- Sprinkle the black sesame seeds on top of the salad.
- Let the salad rest for at least 30 minutes before serving.
The story
In Bangkok, yam noodle salad became popular in the 1970s when restaurants started offering modern, lighter versions of traditional Thai dishes.
