Tostones
This Cuban dish is a crispy and salty delight, perfect as an appetizer or snack.

Ingredients
- 4 lbs potatoes
- 3 tablespoons salt
- oil for frying
- 1 tablespoon vinegar
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- salt to taste
- oil for serving
Method
- Peel and slice the potatoes into rounds about 1 cm thick.
- In a bowl, mix the salt with vinegar and sugar.
- Soak the potato slices in the salted vinegar for 10-15 minutes.
- After soaking, pat the slices dry with paper towels.
- Fry the potato slices in plenty of hot oil until golden brown.
- Drain and let cool slightly before cutting them in half.
- Fry the half-slices in hot oil until crispy.
- Serve with a sprinkle of salt and some oil on the side.

Tostones are a Cuban culinary tradition dating back to colonial times, when Cubans used potatoes to mimic pork fritters.
