Ingredients

  • 1 kg of beef or pork, cut into pieces
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 lemon
  • 2 tablespoons of tomato sauce
  • 1 tablespoon of chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon of salt
  • 1 tablespoon of sugar
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil
  • Water to cover the meat
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 sprig of rosemary

Method

  1. In a large pot, heat the olive oil and sauté the garlic and onion until golden brown.
  2. Add the meat and cook for a few minutes until it turns dark in color.
  3. Add the tomato sauce, chili powder, salt, sugar, lemon juice, broth, and herbs.
  4. Stir well and bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer on medium heat for 1-2 hours, or until the meat is tender.
  5. Before serving, ensure the adobo is well combined and add salt if needed.
  6. Serve hot with bread or as a main course.
