Ingredients

  • 400g of beef
  • 100g of bacon
  • 1 onion
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1 teaspoon of black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 teaspoon of chopped parsley
  • 300ml of beef broth
  • 50g of honey
  • 50g of butter
  • 100g of canned tomatoes

Method

  1. Chop the garlic and onion, then sauté them in a pan with butter.
  2. Chop the beef and bacon into small pieces and mix with the eggs, pepper, salt, and parsley.
  3. Form the meatballs with your hands, making sure they are small and perfectly spherical.
  4. Fry the meatballs in a pan with a little oil until they are crispy.
  5. In another pan, melt the butter and add the broth, honey, and canned tomatoes. Bring to a boil and reduce the heat.
  6. Add the meatballs to the sauce and cook for 10-15 minutes, until the sauce is thick and the meatballs are cooked.
  7. Serve them on a plate with the honey and tomato sauce.

The story

Kottbullar have medieval origins but became popular in the 18th century in Sweden, where they have become a traditional dish and a culinary symbol.
