Ingredients

  • 500 g of beef cut into cubes
  • 2 tablespoons of Cayenne pepper
  • 2 tablespoons of salt
  • 1 tablespoon of Kano pepper
  • 2 tablespoons of ginger powder
  • 2 tablespoons of chili pepper powder
  • 1 tablespoon of red pepper powder
  • 2 tablespoons of palm oil
  • 1 tablespoon of rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon of lemon juice
  • 2 slices of red onion
  • 2 slices of white onion

Method

  1. Cut the beef into cubes and mix with Cayenne pepper, salt, Kano pepper, ginger powder, chili pepper powder, red pepper powder, palm oil, rice vinegar, and lemon juice.
  2. Skewer the beef cubes onto wooden sticks.
  3. Light the fire and let the coals turn dark red.
  4. Grill the beef skewers for 3-4 minutes on each side, turning gently.
  5. Serve with yam and sweet potatoes.

The story

Suya is a popular dish with its origins in Northern Nigeria, believed to have been introduced during the slave trade along the Niger River.
