Ingredients

  • 250 g of flour
  • 100 g of sugar
  • 100 g of butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1 packet of baking powder
  • 50 g of crushed almonds
  • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon powder
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla powder
  • Sugar for decoration

Method

  1. In a bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and vanilla.
  2. In another bowl, beat the egg with the sugar and butter until you get a smooth mixture.
  3. Add the mixture to the flour mixture and stir until you get a homogeneous dough.
  4. Add the crushed almonds and gently mix.
  5. Form balls of similar size and place them on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
  6. Make a small hole in each ball and fill it with a small amount of cream.
  7. Cover with almonds and let rise for about 30 minutes.
  8. Preheat the oven to 180°C and bake the balls for 15-20 minutes, until they become golden.
  9. Dust with sugar to decorate.

St. Joseph's Bread Balls were created as a tribute to the patron saint of the family, St. Joseph, and have become a symbol of good luck during Easter celebrations.
