Ingredients

  • 4 beef or pork cutlets, about 1.5 cm thick
  • 1 cup of beaten eggs
  • 2 cups of milk
  • 1 cup of flour
  • 1 cup of breadcrumbs
  • 1 kg of potatoes
  • oil for frying
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon of soy powder (optional)

Method

  1. Slice the potatoes thinly and blanch in cold water for 10 minutes to remove the starch.
  2. Rinse the potato slices and pat them dry.
  3. In a bowl, mix the beaten eggs, milk, and a bit of salt and pepper.
  4. In another bowl, mix the flour and breadcrumbs.
  5. Dip each cutlet in the abundant egg and milk mixture, then coat it in the flour and breadcrumb mixture.
  6. Fry the cutlets in plenty of hot oil until golden.
  7. Place the potato slices on a baking paper, ensure they are well dried, then fry in hot oil until crispy.
  8. Serve the hot schnitzel with crispy fries and soy sauce (optional).

The story

Schnitzel was invented in the 18th century in Austria and became a popular dish in Central Europe, while fries were introduced to Germany in the 17th century.
