Sauerbraten
Sauerbraten is a traditional German dish, rich and sweet, made with beef marinated in vinegar and spices.

Ingredients
- 1 kg of beef
- 200 ml of white wine vinegar
- 100 ml of water
- 2 onions
- 2 carrots
- 2 dates
- 1 bell pepper
- 1 teaspoon of black pepper
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 1 teaspoon of cayenne pepper
- 3 rosemary leaves
- 3 thyme leaves
- 2 cloves of garlic
Method
- Cut the beef into pieces about 5x5 cm.
- In a bowl, mix the white wine vinegar, water, black pepper, salt, cayenne pepper, rosemary, thyme leaves, and minced garlic cloves.
- Marinate the beef in the mixture for at least 24 hours in the refrigerator.
- In a pan, sauté the onions, carrots, dates, and bell pepper in oil.
- Add the marinated beef and cook over medium heat for 1-2 hours, or until it is tender.
- Serve the sauerbraten with a balsamic glaze, seasoned with salt and pepper.
The story
Sauerbraten has its origins in Germany, where it was prepared by farmers as a way to preserve meat during a time when refrigeration was unavailable. Today, it is a popular dish in Italy as well.
