Ingredients
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1/4 cup fruit gelatin
- 1/4 cup cold water
- 1 cup fresh or canned Saskatoon berries
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup lemon juice
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup flour
- 1/2 cup butter
Method
- Mix the flour, sugar, and butter until you get a coarse flour mixture. Add the fruit gelatin and cold water, mixing until a homogeneous dough forms.
- Form a ball of dough and cover with plastic wrap. Let it rest in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
- Prepare the filling by mixing the Saskatoon berries, sugar, lemon juice, and powdered sugar.
- Prepare the tart base by placing the dough in a pie dish, then adding the filling.
- Cover with the top crust, cutting small slits for steam to escape. Preheat the oven to 180°C and bake for 30-40 minutes.
- Beat the egg and flour to make a crunchy topping. Pour over the tart and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes.
- Let it cool and serve either cold or warm.
