Ingredients

  • 250 g of flour
  • 100 g of sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 100 g of butter
  • 1 packet of baking powder
  • 100 g of pressed cheese
  • 1 tablespoon of rum
  • 1 tablespoon of cinnamon powder
  • 1/4 cup of cold water
  • 100 g of crushed almonds
  • 100 g of cocoa powder
  • 100 g of pulled sugar

Method

  1. Prepare the dough by mixing flour, sugar, eggs, butter, baking powder, and pressed cheese.
  2. Add rum, cinnamon, and cold water, and mix well.
  3. Fold in the crushed almonds and cocoa powder.
  4. Shape the dough into rolls and place on a floured baking sheet.
  5. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for about 30 minutes, until golden.
  6. Drizzle with melted pulled sugar.
  7. Allow to cool and serve.

The story

The Röslibrot was created in the 19th century as a way to use leftover cheese-making residues, becoming a popular Christmas sweet.
