Ingredients

  • 250g of rice
  • 1 liter of milk
  • 100g of sugar
  • 100g of butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla
  • 100g of flour
  • 100g of powdered sugar
  • 100g of ground almonds
  • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon

Method

  1. In a large bowl, mix the rice, milk, sugar, butter, eggs, vanilla, flour, and cinnamon.
  2. Bring to a boil and cook for 15 minutes, stirring frequently.
  3. Preheat the oven to 180°C.
  4. Pour the rice mixture into a baking dish and bake for 20-25 minutes, until golden.
  5. Let it cool and decorate with powdered sugar and ground almonds.
  6. Serve cold or at room temperature.

Originating in 18th-century Belgium, Rijstevlaai gained particular popularity in Bruges, where its preparation has become an art.
