Pumpkin Halva

A fall-inspired sweet made with shimmering pumpkin and honey, perfect for cold days.

Ingredients
- 500 g of pumpkin
- 500 g of sugar
- 500 g of honey
- 200 g of sesame seeds
- 100 g of butter
- 1 teaspoon of cinnamon powder
- 1 teaspoon of cardamom powder
- 100 g of crushed almonds
- 100 g of crushed pistachios
Method
- Prepare the pumpkin by cutting it into pieces and cooking it in water for 30 minutes, then drain and let it cool.
- In a saucepan, mix the sugar, honey, butter, and cinnamon, bring to a boil, then reduce to medium heat.
- Add the chopped pumpkin and cook for 10 minutes, then add the sesame seeds and dried fruits.
- Pour the preparation into a baking dish and bake in the oven at 180°C for 30 minutes.
- Let it cool, cut into squares, and serve.
The story
Halva, a traditional Middle Eastern sweet, was brought to Israel and adapted with local ingredients like pumpkin, creating a unique and autumnal version.
