Ingredients

  • 250 g of wheat flour
  • 100 ml of warm milk
  • 1 tablespoon of butter
  • 1 tablespoon of sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon of yeast
  • 1/2 tablespoon of crushed almonds
  • 1/2 tablespoon of crushed walnuts
  • 1/2 tablespoon of almond flakes
  • 1/2 tablespoon of walnut flakes
  • 100 g of raisins
  • 1 egg

Method

  1. In a bowl, mix the flour, yeast, sugar, and butter.
  2. Add the warm milk and mix until you get a homogeneous dough.
  3. Cover the bowl with a cloth and let it rise for about 1 hour.
  4. Divide the dough into 8-10 pieces and form small balls.
  5. Cover the balls with raisins, almonds, and walnuts.
  6. Roll the balls into naan shapes, wrapping the dough with the dried fruits and nuts.
  7. Beat the egg and use it to coat the naan for a crispy exterior.
  8. Fry the naan in a hot pan with oil until they become golden.

The story

Peshawari naan was developed in Peshawar in the 1960s as a way to add a sweet and crunchy element to the traditional Indian naan.
