Pastitsio is a traditional Greek dish, a blend of pasta and meat cooked slowly in a tomato sauce.

Ingredients
- 2 lbs ground beef
- 500 g spaghetti
- 1 liter tomato sauce
- 2 onions
- 2 zucchinis
- 200 g grated cheese
- 800 ml beef broth
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 100 g zucchini
- 100 g broccoli
- 100 g cubed pumpkin
Method
- In a pan, sauté the onions in a bit of olive oil until they become translucent.
- Add the ground beef and cook until fully cooked.
- In another pot, mix the tomato sauce, beef broth, and cubed vegetables.
- Cook on medium heat for 30 minutes, adding salt and pepper to taste.
- In a large baking dish, layer a strip of pasta, then a spoonful of sauce, another strip of pasta, and so on.
- Cover with grated cheese and bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for 20-25 minutes.
- Serve hot, accompanied by a cold beer.
The story
Pastitsio was born in the 19th century as a way to use leftover dishes, eventually becoming a beloved and popular dish throughout Greece.
