Oliebollen
This traditional Dutch dessert, made of fruit fritters, is a delightful treat for New Year's Eve celebrations.

Ingredients
- 400 grams of apples
- 200 grams of almonds
- 200 grams of sugar
- 100 grams of flour
- 100 grams of butter
- 4 eggs
- 1 teaspoon of cinnamon powder
- 1 teaspoon of powdered sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon of granulated sugar
- oil for frying
- icing sugar for decoration
Method
- Peel the apples and cut them into cubes.
- Fry the apples in hot oil until golden brown.
- While the apples are cooling, blend the almonds with sugar, flour, cinnamon, powdered sugar, and granulated sugar.
- In a bowl, mix the eggs with butter and flour.
- Add the fried apple pulp and mix well.
- Form balls with the preparation and fry in hot oil.
- Sprinkle icing sugar over the pastries as soon as they come out of the paper towel.
- Serve immediately to enjoy their crunchiness and sweetness.
The story
Oliebollen are a traditional Dutch New Year’s Eve treat dating back to the 17th century, when people would prepare these sweets to celebrate the arrival of the new year.
