Noosa Barbecued Prawns
A delicious barbecued prawns dish, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, served with a lime and chili sauce.

Ingredients
- 400g of fresh prawns
- 2 tablespoons of olive oil
- 1 tablespoon of lime juice
- 1 tablespoon of chili powder
- 1 tablespoon of sugar
- Salt to taste
- 1 finely chopped onion
- 2 tablespoons of barbecue sauce
- 1 lemon
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 bay leaf
- 1 tablespoon of olive oil for the grill
Method
- Clean the prawns and split them in half.
- In a pan, mix the olive oil, lime juice, chili powder, salt, and sugar.
- Add the grill oil and bay leaf.
- In a bowl, mix the chopped onion with the barbecue sauce.
- Marinate the prawns in the mixture for 30 minutes.
- Grill the prawns for 3-4 minutes on each side until they are crispy.
- Peel the lemon and cut it into pieces.
- Serve the prawns with the lime and chili sauce, along with the lemon pieces.
The story
Noosa barbecued prawns became popular in the 1980s when local chefs started showcasing them in restaurants, inspired by Mediterranean cuisine.
