Montego Bay Pork Pattie

A crispy pork patty stuffed with spinach, onions, and spices, a traditional dish from the western coast of Jamaica.

Ingredients
- 400g of pork, chopped
- 200g of spinach, cooked and chopped
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 tablespoons of chili powder
- 1 tablespoon of sugar
- 1 tablespoon of olive oil
- 1 beaten egg
- 150g of bread, chopped
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Flour for frying
- Onion dip for serving
Method
- In a bowl, mix the pork, spinach, onion, chili powder, sugar, salt, and pepper.
- Add the beaten egg and chopped bread, mixing well until you get a homogeneous dough.
- Form the patties with the dough, wrapping each patty in a piece of kitchen paper to facilitate frying.
- In a pan, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
- Fry the patties for about 3-4 minutes on each side until they are golden and crispy.
- Drain on paper towels and serve with onion dip.
