Marine and Shrimp Salad

This marine and shrimp salad is a fresh and colorful delight, typical of the Cartagena region in Colombia.

Ingredients
- 200 gr of shrimp
- 200 gr of clams
- 100 gr of oysters
- 100 gr of squid
- 1 onion
- 1 chili pepper
- 100 ml of olive oil
- 20 gr of balsamic vinegar
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 100 gr of ripe tomatoes
- 50 gr of cucumbers
- 100 gr of avocados
- 100 gr of sliced bread
Method
- Clean and devein the shrimp, clams, and oysters. Cook the shrimp and clams in salted water for 3-4 minutes, then cool under cold water.
- Slice the chili pepper and onion thinly. Whisk the olive oil, balsamic vinegar, chili pepper, and onion in a bowl.
- Blanch the squid for 2-3 minutes, then cool under cold water.
- Cut the tomatoes, cucumbers, and avocados into cubes. Cut the bread slices into quarters.
- In a large bowl, combine the shrimp, clams, oysters, squid, tomatoes, cucumbers, avocados, and bread slices. Add the prepared sauce and mix well.
- Arrange the salad on a serving plate and season with salt and pepper to taste before serving.
The story
In the Cartagena region, this marine and shrimp salad has become popular thanks to the local fishing tradition. Fishermen would use the scraps of their catch to prepare quick and flavorful lunches.
