Ingredients

  • 500 g of beef filet
  • 150 g of toasted bread, crumbled
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon of salt
  • 1 tablespoon of pepper
  • 1 tablespoon of sugar
  • 1 tablespoon of dried thyme
  • 1 tablespoon of chopped parsley
  • oil for frying

Method

  1. Prepare the beef filet by cutting it into pieces of about 100g each.
  2. Mix the crumbled toasted bread, egg, salt, pepper, sugar, thyme, and parsley in a bowl.
  3. Dip the beef pieces in the mixture, ensuring they are well coated.
  4. Fry the kotlet schabowy in plenty of hot oil until they are golden and crispy.
  5. Serve immediately with a choice sauce, such as garlic sauce or tartar sauce.

The story

Kotlet schabowy became popular in Poland in the 19th century when meat was a luxury, and people sought to make the beef more tender by bread-coating and frying the cutlets.
