Kibbeh Kibrit
A traditional Sidon dish, Kibbeh Kibrit is crispy and sweet, perfect as a dessert or snack.

Ingredients
- 150 g of sugar
- 150 g of flour
- 80 g of butter
- 100 ml of water
- 1 tablespoon of lemon juice
- 1/2 teaspoon of powdered sugar
- 1/4 cup of crushed almonds
- 1/4 cup of crushed pistachios
- 1/4 cup of sesame seeds
- 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla
- 100 g of chopped macadamia nuts
Method
- In a saucepan, mix the butter, sugar, and water. Bring to a boil and simmer for 5-7 minutes, until the mixture turns dark and thickens into a dough.
- Add the lemon juice, vanilla, cinnamon, and powdered sugar. Mix well.
- In another bowl, mix the flour with the almonds, pistachios, sesame seeds, and macadamia nuts.
- Combine the sugar dough with the flour mixture until you get a homogeneous dough.
- Shape the kibbeh into small balls and let them cool on a plate.
- Preheat the oven to 180°C and fry the kibbeh in hot oil for 2-3 minutes, until they become golden and crispy.
- Drain the kibbeh on baking paper and serve warm.
The story
Kibbeh Kibrit is a traditional Sidon delicacy from Lebanon's coastal city, with a history dating back to the 19th century. This crispy sweet treat was once a festive appetizer, now cherished as a dessert or snack.
