Ingredients

  • 200g of kheer rice
  • 1 liter of milk
  • 200g of sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of cardamom powder
  • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon powder
  • 1 teaspoon of saffron powder
  • 100ml of chopped almonds
  • 100ml of chopped pistachios
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla powder

Method

  1. In a pot, bring the milk to a boil with cardamom, cinnamon, and saffron.
  2. Add the rice and cook over medium heat for 5-7 minutes, stirring frequently to prevent sticking.
  3. Once the rice is half-cooked, add the sugar and continue cooking over low heat for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Finally, add the vanilla, almonds, and pistachios, mix well, and let it cool down.
  5. Serve warm or cold, garnished with chopped almonds and pistachios.

Kheer has ancient roots and dates back to the Mughal era, where it was served as a dessert during festivals and celebrations.
