Keropok Lekor

This traditional Malaysian sweet, Keropok Lekor, is a crispy fish cracker perfect for an aperitif.

Ingredients
- 200 g of fish piece (e.g. salmon or tuna)
- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon of water
- 1 tablespoon of oil
- 1 tablespoon of grated ginger
- Salt to taste
- 1 tablespoon of chili powder
- 1 tablespoon of chopped onion
- 1 tablespoon of chopped coriander
- 1 tablespoon of sesame seeds
- 1 tablespoon of salt
Method
- Slice the fish thinly and place it in a bowl.
- Add the egg, water, oil, and salt. Mix well.
- Add the ginger, onion, coriander, chili powder, and a few drops of oil. Mix until you get a smooth batter.
- Prepare a container with salt and sesame seeds for the coating.
- Form the batter into small balls and fry in hot oil until crispy.
- Drain and dry the balls on baking paper, then rub with salt and sesame seeds.
- Let cool and serve as a snack or aperitif.

Keropok Lekor originates from the city of Melaka, Malaysia, where its preparation has been perfected over time. This sweet treat was created to use up leftover fish and became popular as a snack.
